Yes, I did create my own comp card using Photoshop. As an artist I have the advantage of knowing software like Photoshop, which has allowed me to create my own comp cards and update them as needed. If you do not have Photoshop on your computer and/or don't know how to use the program, there are plenty of online comp card printing websites that allow you to send them your images and information, and for a fee they will create it for you as well as print them and mail them. Simply do an online search for: comp card printing, and a bunch of results will pop up. Compare prices and see which one works best for your budget.

I also offer my services for designing comp cards and have designed a few for other models. My rates are super affordable, depending on the design and number of images and when I am done creating your comp card, I would email you the high resolution image, which you can then get printed. I would suggest avoiding places like Kinkos and sticking to online comp card printing services, which are more experienced with this type of printing job. Pet Cock Tip....errr, I mean here's a petcock tip

Ha! got your attention. No this is not pornographic. It is the part of a non fuel injected, or carburated bike that controls your fuel flow.

Off, Run and Reserve are the three positions. O.K., Still sounds kind of pornographic talking about three positions. Stay with me, there is a point ~~cumming~~, I mean coming.

While in Colorado on storm duty, I was on my way back to the airport rental to return my rental vehicle. It was about 97 degrees, with no breeze, and no clouds. I spotted a guy on the side of the freeway sitting on a guard rail next to his motorcycle. He was not on the phone, and not doing anything, which led me to believe he might need a hand. (Of course I stopped).

I asked, "Are you just resting, or is the bike giving you trouble?"

He said, "I'm out of gas."

Me,"I gotta ask the obvious, how bout the reserve?"

Him, "I tried it. No gas. Won't start."

Me, "Let me run through the scenarios. Were you riding, realized you ran out of gas, and hit reserve, and ran that out too?"

Him, "No."

Me, " You had it on reserve when you left, not realizing you were on reserve, and drained all of the gas?"

Him, "No, I ran out of gas, coasted to this spot here, turned on the reserve and tried to start it a couple of times. It won't start, so there must not be any gas."

Me, "There's gotta be enough gas in there to get you about 20 miles or so. You have a pressurized petcock. You need to give your throttle about two to three full turns while the bike is off, hit the choke, and she should start right up. Mind if I give it a try?"

Him, "Sure, go ahead."

I gave it a try, and she fired right up.

Him, "Thanks a million! You are a life saver. Where the hell were you 45 minutes ago?"

I followed him to the Airport area nearest gas station, and was then on my way home.

I posted this story not to boast about what I did for this guy, but to share a little knowledge for those of you who might not already know this. Hopefully I can save someone else the headache of thinking they are screwed when they are really just fine.

SBK Brno, trionfo di Biaggi e Aprilia, tonfo per Ben Spies e Michel Fabrizio

Era una gara1 attesissima quella odierna di Brno, sia in ottica campionato sia per la competitività dell’Aprilia sul tracciato ceco. Come spesso accade, la realtà supera però le aspettative ed abbiamo potuto assistere a molti colpi di scena che non erano prevedibili.

Il primo arriva subito: mentre gli occhi al via erano puntati sulla prima fila (con Spies, Fabrizio e Biaggi), a sorprendere tutti in partenza è invece stato Troy Corser, con la BMW, che conduce i primi giri, tallonato subito da Spies, Rea, Biaggi e Fabrizio.

Purtroppo per il team tedesco però, mentre l’australiano mette in chiara evidenza la ripresa tecnica della S1000RR, il compagno Xaus cade nel corso del primo giro, quando era anch’egli a ridosso del gruppo al comando e potenzialmente in grado di mettere un’altra BMW nelle prime posizioni.

Il ritmo di Corser è buono, come mai mostrato sinora da una BMW, ma non certo quanto basta per staccare gli avversari, che gradualmente lo sopravanzano. Spies, Biaggi e Fabrizio, sono i tre che mostrano di avere un passo migliore, mentre Rea ed il compagno Checa, seguono da vicino con le loro Honda (moto anch’essa in netta ripresa, rispetto alla prima fase di campionato).

Poco più indietro, Noriyuki Haga cerca di tenere duro: nonostante il dolore alla spalla, lotta con la sua Ducati per rimanere nella top-ten di una gara che vede più protagonisti del solito, con anche la Kawasaki inserita nella zona alta della classifica.

I primi tre allungano sugli inseguitori ed i due italiani non si risparmiano nella lotta fra loro e contro la Yamaha del texano, che è al comando. Proprio in un tentativo di sorpasso, Fabrizio arriva come si suol dire “impiccato” al termine della discesa che porta ad una curva sulla sinistra (ovvero al limite tra la possibilità di chiudere la curva stessa e l’essere invece troppo lungo).
Michel non riesce ad evitare il contatto mentre arriva all’interno di Spies, che sta chiudendo la curva davanti a lui: la Ducati scivola sotto la Yamaha numero 19 di Big Ben. Quest'ultimo, non aspettandosi tale manovra, rimane coinvolto in un urto che fa finire a terra entrambi i pretendenti alla leadership di gara e campionato. I due scivolano insieme nella sabbia e la buona fede del pur colpevole Fabrizio, è comunque dimostrata dal fatto che mentre Spies cerca di ripartire, Michel lascia la sua Ducati a terra e corre istintivamente a scusarsi con il rivale.

Il colpo è davvero significativo per il campionato, che rimane così aperto, favorendo proprio chi non se l’aspettava sino a pochi minuti prima, ovvero il sofferente Haga.

SBK Brno, gara2: Spies vince davanti a Biaggi ed il campionato è aperto

Dopo i brividi e le cadute di gara1, la partenza di gara2 a Brno, vede i piloti imporre subito un ritmo ancor più veloce, con Corser che scatta nuovamente davanti, sulla BMW, ma dopo poche curve i tre leader iniziali di gara1 (Spies, Fabrizio e Biaggi) sembrano voler riproporre il medesimo tema. Con la differenza che ora Spies spinge al 100% sin dai primissimi giri, abbassando il record della pista e mettendo un piccolo margine fra se è Fabrizio, che è secondo, seguito da vicino da Biaggi e Rea.

Sorprendente Nori Haga, che si mantiene da subito al sesto posto, nonostante l’accumulo di dolore e sforzo per la gara di poche ore prima.

I tre davanti allungano sul resto del gruppo e la condotta di Spies è ineccepibile. Dopo il contatto che lo aveva messo fuori gioco in gara 1, il pilota texano va a conquistare la sua undicesima vittoria stagionale senza mai rischiare di avere rivali troppo vicini a se, gestendo un piccolo ma duraturo margine. Biaggi ha mostrato con l’Aprilia di poter essere parimenti veloce, in certi punti della pista anche più di Spies, ma solamente nella fase finale il romano ha provato a pressare da vicino Ben per superarlo, senza riuscirci; inizialmente Max è rimasto troppi giri dietro a Fabrizio, che ha poi concluso terzo con la Ducati ufficiale, distaccato di circa mezzo secondo dal duo di testa.

Dopo il primo doppio podio, in gara1, per le Honda del team Ten Kate ancora una buona gara, ma essendo rimasti in pista Spies e Fabrizio, il duo Jonathan Rea e Carlos Checa si ritrova arretrato di due posizioni ed a posizioni invertite rispetto a gara1.

Anche nei giri finali Haga mostra forza e volontà di combattere per il titolo: nonostante le condizioni fisiche precarie, conclude al sesto posto, resistendo ad un terzetto di rivali composto da Tom Sykes, Shane Byrne e Jakub Smrz.

Positiva anche se non come gara1, la prova di Troy Corser, che ha concluso decimo. A punti Lorenzo Lanzi, che era stato costretto al ritiro nella prova precedente.

Ora il campionato è aperto più di quanto si sarebbe potuto prevedere, con soli sette punti a separare Spies dal leader Haga. Gli ultimi round saranno decisivi e senza possibilità di errore per loro e per Fabrizio, teoricamente ancora in lotta per il titolo.

Rocky Mountain High

My absence can be explained yet again by storm duty. I've just recently returned from a tour of storm duty, handling tornado and hail claims from Colorado. Within about one months period of time there have been over 9 significant storms. Several of which had tornados and all that produced hail. It seems ironic to be sitting in your vehicle writing up a hail damage estimate for someone's home or auto while it is hailing at that very moment. It's happened to me once. I've also been on an auto "drive in" assignment once where as we were driving to the drive in location it hailed on the vehicle we were driving three different times.

This time handling hail claims in Colorado there was a tornado one night within a neighboring city to where I was staying at. It too produced lots of damaging winds and hail. This is crazy shit. I'm glad to be home. I only hope I can stay here. Hopefully they won't need me again for awhile. Maybe I can actually get caught up on some of your blogs.

Anyway, I didn't have much time to really get out and see the sights so much, which really bums me out, because it is such a beautiful place. While on storm duty you work a minimum 12 hour day. This leaves no time for anything else but to eat, sleep and shit. Sometimes you feel like all you do is eat, sleep and shit hail. The Rockies are truly breathtaking. At times while driving along from one home to the next, I'd get beautiful glimpses, but no place to really take the photos that would do the Rockies justice, because, well, work got in the way and so did the other moving cars flying by on the freeways.

I got one shitty picture while driving. That's it. Oh, and my camera's zoom sucks, especially while driving down the freeway.

I did get an interesting set of photos that I thought I'd share.

Oh wait is that actually a Fido in that trailer????? WTF! I thought it was kind of cool, and yet at the same time, kind of cruel. I got mixed feelings on this one. Keeping in mind it was in the middle to upper 90's. Although at the same time as much as I love to ride, and as much as I love my dog, and he loves me, It would be nice to take him with me sometimes.

Andrea Dovizioso sorprende tutti e vince a Donington Park

Nella MotoGP c’è un nuovo vincitore: il pilota della Honda Andrea Dovizioso, vittorioso oggi a Donington Park in una gara che più imprevedibile non si può.

Con la sua Honda il pilota di Forlimpopoli ha chiuso al comando senza commettere errori, proprio quando tutti i protagonisti della classe regina volavano via.

Casey Stoner ha sbagliato gomme, Jorge Lorenzo è scivolato, Valentino Rossi pure per poi chiudere al quinto posto con una buona rimonta.

Dovizioso si è così portato al comando vincendo per la prima volta nella classe regina alla sua seconda stagione in MotoGP, anche se ha detto che non è stato facile.

“È stata una gara molto complicata“, dice Dovizioso. “Con queste condizioni la temperatura delle gomme era troppo bassa, e la leggera pioggia in alcune parti della pista ha fatto si che questa fosse una delle corse peggiori da correre.

Prima che Valentino cadesse è stato facile, dovevo semplicemente seguirlo; poi ho dovuto iniziare a comprendere meglio la pista. In più il visore era bagnato e la mia visibilità era scarsa, non potevo vedere con chiarezza le linee più asciutte. Alla fine Randy (De Puniet) e Colin (Edwards) stavano dando il massimo per prendermi ed è stata dura difendermi.

Ad ogni modo oggi è stata una situazione atipica, dobbiamo ancora capire esattamente le potenzialità del nostro pacchetto. Ci manca ancora qualcosa”.

Nonostante tutto Dovizioso ci è riuscito, portando così una vittoria importante alla Honda, la seconda stagionale dopo quella di Dani Pedrosa a Laguna Seca.

Facile dunque pensare che per Andrea arrivi presto la riconferma in squadra anche per il 2010: questi risultati non possono che portare altre soluzioni.

Latest Shoot: 49 Square Miles

I finally got the images back from the online catalog shoot I did about a month or two ago and so I decided to do a post about my experience on that shoot as well as share the photos.

49 Square Miles is a handbag and accessories company based out of San Francisco. They may be small in size but their products are popular, especially among the celebrities--even one of George W. Bush's daughters was photographed sporting one of their handbags. They have retail stores all over the country, which is pretty impressive. I myself never really got all hyped up about purses or handbags but once I saw their collection, I must say I got pretty giggly with excitement. 49 Square Miles was in need of models to showcase their Fall collection of handbags, leather belts, and accessories and I was one of the lucky people to be chosen. The shoot took place at the home of the founder of the company, who was located only 15 minutes away from where I lived. Regardless of the closeness of the shoot, I still had to be there bright and early at 7am. Ugh. Haha.

I was one of four models total and there was a makeup/hair stylist and one photographer who had an assistant with him. The owner of 49 Square Miles was there as well--it's her house we're shooting in after all! She made sure we had plenty of fresh fruit and bottled water on hand (and we were also served yummy deli sandwiches for lunch) and the wardrobe stylist, who was also one of the employees working for 49 Square Miles, began putting our outfits together while we took turns in the makeup chair. The weather was perfect and there were a number of locations to shoot. The first location was outdoors in the backyard. Each model took turns shooting solo images with the photographer, Toby Burditt, and then we were paired up or had up to three models in one shot. We were given the latest handbags, necklaces, and wallets to show off. The yellow dress I was put in was nicknamed the "Michelle Obama" so we had fun joking about that.

Then it was on to outfit change number two: a more casual pairing of dark jeans, black pumps, and a maroon top with one of the leather belts and handbags. I was paired with another model and the phone she's holding in the shot actually belongs to the photograher. We were looking and reacting to the adorable pictures of his kids. Afterwards we switched things up. Tobby Burditt is one of those talented photographers who thinks outside of the box and he came up with this out of the ordinary shot where I sat on a bench while the other model stood on top of it but he only shot her from the waist down. After shooting those locations we moved inside for interior shots.

I changed into a multicolored, slinky dress, secured with another belt, and paired with the same black pumps and a different handbag. It was funny because for each setup, we created a "scenario" to help us get into the mood and elicit certain reactions. They were mostly goofy. We labeled the first interior shot "The Devil Wears Prada" because the model I shot with looked a lot like the Meryl Streep character from that movie so she played the role of my nightmare boss and I was the lowly--yet fashionable--intern who was forced to sit on the floor and drown out her drunken rants by listening to my Ipod, while my higher than thou boss got to sit in a comfy chair (I eventually got to sit in a chair lol). To make things more ridiculous they added a drink glass for her to hold and so I came up with the idea that I was at her house party and she was super drunk so I had to watch over her. We couldn't stop laughing after each photo they took.

By the time we got around to one of the last shots, we'd been shooting for over 8 hours so it was a super long day. My last scene also involved another model and because we were pretty tired by this time, we decided to label this scenario "lesbian lovers." I know, we're terrible! Trust me, after shooting for hours, everyone eventually starts going downhill in the creativity department haha. Wackiness ensued as we shot but at least I got to lie down on the couch. The shoes I was wearing weren't mine and they were two sizes too small so I was grateful I didn't have to be on my feet!

It was a long but very productive shoot and as a bonus we each got a complimentary makeup bag from the upcoming Fall collection (honestly, I couldn't afford any of their products--definitely high end stuff!). The images are supposed to be on the website (http://www.49sqmi.com/) by the end of July or sometime in August. I'm definitely excited to see what images they chose to put up.

Tips for Working Better with Makeup Artists

Makeup is an art in my opinion and the talent it takes to transform a man or woman into a masterpiece for a photoshoot is an amazing experience. Makeup artists, like photographers, have their own set of duties and talents needed to pull off the job. One of the best ways to have a great outcome is to know how to work effortlessly with a makeup artist. With these tips you’ll learn how to make their job a whole lot easier.

1. Wash and moisturize. If you are doing a modeling gig where a makeup artist will be present, you must first and foremost cleanse your face and moisturize it before heading to the shoot. Good makeup won’t set well on a dirty complexion.

2. Be still! It can be a bit unnerving to have someone that close to your face but if you can’t sit still then the makeup artist won’t be able to apply your makeup, at least not in a good way. In addition to being able to sit still, you’ll have to learn how to sit still for at least an hour. On most photoshoots makeup takes about an hour—maybe 30 minutes if the makeup artist is really good. But expect that part of the process to take a while.

3. Know where to focus your eyes. When it comes to putting on mascara and eye liner, it is important to know where to focus your eyes. Don’t stare at the makeup artist the entire time—it’s annoying and a tad bit unnerving for the makeup artist. Find a spot on a wall or an object in the room and look past the makeup artist and focus on that. When eye liner is being applied to the lower lash line be sure to look up and not down. In case of a slip up the liner won’t poke you right in the iris. On a related note, when the makeup artist is putting on mascara, move your eyes accordingly. For example, if the mascara is being applied on the right side of your top lashes, move your iris over to the left and vice versa. Look up for mascara being applied to the lower lash line.

4. Be careful with your eye makeup. After the makeup artist has applied your eye shadow and finishes off with mascara don't open your eyes too much right away. Doing so will result in the tip of your lashes coming into contact with the top of your eyelids, leaving annoying dots of mascara on them, which will need to be removed. Open your eyes halfway and wait a minute or two for the mascara to set and then you can open your eyes normally. When getting false lashes applied it can take some getting used to since many false lashes tend to be heavy. Open your eyes slowly and follow the same instructions I just mentioned. It is normal for your eyes to get watery after getting fake lashes put on. Just make sure it doesn't ruin your liner or cause streaking. Blink slowly a few times and you'll eventually get used to the weight and feel of fake lashes.

5. Listen to instructions. Most makeup artists will tell you what to do so be sure to listen to them. If you’re new to having makeup applied, don’t be scared to ask them if you’re doing things right. Some makeup artists assume you know what to do and may not give you much in the way of instruction. If you’re in this situation, let them know that you’re new to the process and don’t mind if they tell you what to do.

6. Make yourself accessible. Sitting in a makeup chair sometimes causes you to lean back too far or get too comfortable, putting you out of reach of the makeup artist. Remember, the makeup artist has to lean in and work on your face while standing (usually), which can be difficult if you aren’t positioned right. Scoot up to the edge of the seat as far as you can without falling off and extend your neck and face forward so that it is easier for the makeup artist to work on. Also learn when to turn to face them directly instead of making them cross over to work on both sides of your face.

7. Relax! When your face is relaxed the skin is much easier to work with and allows the makeup to go on smoother. If you furrow your brow too much, blink a lot, or do other movements that cause wrinkles in your skin, the makeup won’t go on uniformly. Do your best not to twitch or fidget when getting the makeup applied. Avoid squinting as well.

8. Make friends. Getting to know your makeup artist is part of the fun. Don’t feel like you have to stand still and quiet as a statue. Many makeup artists love to gab and will ask you about yourself so feel free to do the same. Of course talk when the moment is right—you shouldn’t be talking while they are putting on your lipstick.

9. Not all makeup artists do hair. There are a good number of makeup artists that also double as hair stylists but not all of them do. Be on the safe side and don't assume that the makeup artist you're working with will be able to give you an amazing hairstyle. Some makeup artists have told me they don't have a clue about how to do hair. Unless the client states that a hair stylist will be present at the shoot, play it safe and do your own hair. Bring any brushes or styling tools you may need to freshen up your look.

10. Don’t mess with your face. Getting your makeup done for a shoot isn’t about what you want or what looks good and what doesn’t. It is up to the client, the art director, photographer—whoever is in charge. Modeling is about transforming into someone other than yourself so expect to see something out of the ordinary. Don’t pout and be upset that you don’t like your makeup—it is a huge insult to the makeup artist. They are simply doing their job so let them do it. Don’t tell the makeup artist how to do his/her job. Appreciate the fact that they are taking the time out to make you look good.

Donington Park, arriva la MotoGP

Il tracciato inglese si trova nelle Midlands orientali, dalle parti della famosa foresta di Sherwood, ed e’ tutti gli anni ritrovo di migliai di appassionati del Regno Unito. Si trattera’, pero’, dell’ultimo appuntamento con la MotoGP per il circuito inglese: infatti dal 2010 il GP di Sua Maesta’ si disputera’ sul tracciato di Silverstone, probabilmente la pista piu’ famosa dell’isola.

Donington Park misura 4023 metri e presenta sette curve a destra e quattro a sinistra con un rettilineo di meno di 600 metri, e’ un tracciato ricco di discese e curve veloci che mettono in risalto la parte telaistica delle moto.

Cinque vittorie gli anni passati per Valentino Rossi sul circuito inglese, che rimane uno dei suoi favoriti. Dall’edizione del 2000 a quella del 2005 fu un dominio pesarese tranne per il GP del 2003 vinto dal suo nemico storico Max Biaggi. Sia nel 2007 che nel 2008 la vittoria e’ andata alla Ducati di Casey Stoner. In particolare la scorsa stagione il pilota australiano domino’ tutto il week end dimostrando di avere un passo inarrivabile per i suoi avversari, con Valentino Rossi al secondo posto e Daniel Pedrosa al terzo.

Particolare attenzione per gli orari del week end, infatti le prove ufficiali della Motogp si svolgeranno dalle 14:55 alle 16:55 mentre le gare della domenica si svolgeranno ai seguenti orari (ora italiana): la 125 alle 13:30, la 250 alle 14:45 e la Motogp alle 16:30 tutto con la consueta copertura della redazione sportiva di Italia1.
